The main idea of this story is about a girl named Della. It is Christmas eve and Della is worried that she does not have any money to buy a gift to her husband Jim.So Della gets an idea and she goes out and to go sell her hair. So Della could buy a gift to Jim.Della wnt to buy a chain so it could match his wacth to go with it.But in the other hand Jim does not know that Della sold her hair.
So Jim not knowing that her wife cut her hair and sold it.Jim buys della some expensive combs that della has wanted to brush her beautiful long hair.It's Christimas day and Della is waiting for jim to arrive. Jim comes in, Jim is in shock and has no expession on his face.Della explains to Jim why she did that and Jim confesses to della the truth about what he did.
That he sold his wacth to buy della her expensive combs. and they had a great Christimas after all even though it was a big surprise for them that Christimas day. These are the main ides of this story because thats all it talks about in the story. and it also talks about how money is nessary to life.
